Woodbridge is a large suburban community in the City of Vaughan, just north of Toronto. Situated in hilly terrain of the Humber River Valley, Woodbridge is located between Highway 27 and Pine Valley Drive. It was once an independent town before being amalgamated with the closest communities to form the city in 1971.
Its traditional downtown core is the Woodbridge Avenue. The Woodbridge Library is located here. There is also an outdoor centre with a small town magnetism and even features a clock tower. The entrance is a breathtaking bridge and inside you come upon a mixture of shops, restaurants and businesses anchored by the Market Lane Shopping Centre.
Woodbridge Fairgrounds is one of the landmarks which host an assortment of events including the Woodbridge Fair. In particular the neighborhood is home to two nature conservation areas. One of these is the Kortright Centre for Conservation which couples a natural oasis with some of the most leading edge sustainable education programs and events in Canada. The Boyd Conservation Area situated at 8739 Islington Avenue is renouned for bird watching and nature hiking. Outdoor musical concerts are also frequent in Boyd Conservation Area throughout the summer.
