The West End was first settled in the mid to late 1800’s as the city of Toronto started to grow and expand westward. It wasn’t however until the early 1900’s when streetcars came to this area that it really started to grow. With new streetcars and ease of accessibility to Toronto, many new families started to move to the West End. Most notable perhaps were the many laborers and their families that moved to this area as many new factories began to open in the northern part of the West End.
