Moe Norman Memorial Charity Crime Stoppers Golf Tournament
On Thursday August 18th, the Foxwood Country Club hosted the 11th Annual Moe Norman Memorial Charity – Crime Stoppers Golf Tournament. It was a beautiful day with a full house of golfers and supporters, with many golf enthusiasts and businesses coming forward to become a part of this charity event. A total of 29 teams of four participated in the tournament.
Fifteen years ago, Moe Norman made a commitment to be permanently associated with Crime Stoppers. Moe passed away and to honor his legacy, the Waterloo Regional Crime Stoppers are happy to continue Moe’s wishes by rejuvenating this tournament on an annual basis.
Gus and Audrey Maue have generously supported and championed this tournament for many years. Not only were they featured in inspirational news articles over the years but this year they were honored by the Ontario Association of Crime Stoppers with a prestigious Community Service Award.
Crime Stoppers is a non-profit charitable organization that is run by members of the community. They work in partnership with the Police and Media to assist in helping anonymously solve serious crimes and make our community a safer place. The non-profit organization depends solely on fundraising for its sustainability, with the Golf Tournament typically raising approximately $20,000. The proceeds from the tournament are used towards Crime Stoppers’ core and outreach programs, which allow citizens to anonymously report crimes and promote safety and security in the Waterloo Region.
