LAZAR NAMED IBL PITCHER OF THE WEEK

The Intercounty Baseball League announced today that Hamilton Cardinals Chris Lazar has been named the IBL’s Pitcher of the Week for the week of July 24 – July 30.

Lazar appeared in one game this past week where he took to the mound against the 2017 IBL pennant winners, the Barrie Baycats. The 20-year-old, Mississauga, Ontario native, in his second season with the Cardinals, shut down the top team in the league on Saturday. He would allow just one earned run on five hits and two walks while striking out two for the complete game victory.

The Hamilton Cardinals will start the 2017 IBL Playoffs on the road this Thursday night when they travel to Kitchener to face the Panthers at Jack Couch Park starting at 7:30 PM. Game two of the best of seven series will go Saturday night at Bernie Arbour Stadium in Hamilton also starting at 7:30 PM.
