Nature's Sanctuary A Juried Photography Exhibition Col. Sam Smith Park
Colonel Samuel Smith Park is the jewel of the Toronto Lakeshore - a tranquil waterfront sanctuary of wetlands, woods, shorelines, and meadows. It supports a magnificent web of life with a diversity of environments providing food, habitat and protection for the many species of plants and the birds and animals that pass through the park or call it home.
The juried photo exhibition will be held from October 11, 2018 through November 11, 2018 at the Assembly Hall gallery and will showcase the diversity of wildlife and the beauty of the natural landscape in the park. The Friends of Sam Smith Park (FOSS) is a community group of local residents and park users dedicated to protecting, enhancing and preserving the naturalized areas of Colonel Samuel Smith Park that is also interested in creating public awareness of the role that Col. Sam Smith Park plays in supporting biodiversity and providing natural spaces for public enjoyment.
FOSS, in partnership with the Assembly Hall, will host a gala evening on Thursday, October 11, 2018. Light refreshments will be served. All members of the community who enjoy the park and wish to share their experience of the beauty of Sam Smith Park are invited to enter. Youth under age 16 are welcome to enter as well. Each photographer may submit a maximum of 5 photos for a small fee. All submissions need to be submitted by August 31, 2018; applications will be online. The photos must respect privacy restrictions – no discernible photos of people or boats, please. Prizes will be awarded for First, Second, and Honourable Mention.
