Fashionable harmonies from dissonant courts. The Toronto Consort explores the contenance angloise – a 15th-century musical style pioneered by John Dunstaple and other English composers in the rival courts of England, France, and Burgundy. We welcome one of North America’s leading specialists in this style, Blue Heron’s Scott Metcalfe, as he guest directs a program exploring the marvellous music of Dunstaple, Du Fay, Frye, and contemporaries, for voices, recorders, percussion, fiddle, and harp.
