Toronto’s largest gallery is now open The 416 Project - Art is Everywhere

Frustrated by the dearth of window washing and gutter cleaning ads polluting hydro poles around the city, Toronto artist Jorge Molina is installing 416 unique canvases throughout the many neighbourhoods of ‘The 416’. Mounting each work on common utility poles, this art installation has turned the entire city into one large gallery. Each 6” x 6” mixed media canvas is an image of its surroundings.

"I love to create art and I love sharing it even more. It's art in a space you wouldn't expect. I'm hoping to make people smile, invoke some sort of reaction or spark an idea and inspire others to create something because we all need art in our lives,” says Molina.

He adds, “The images may seem of the mundane. They are of the objects, fixtures and surroundings that we see everyday. Blending into the visual noise. Becoming part of the extraneous. I want to capture the eye for a moment and show that there is beauty even in this urban, utilitarian environment. See the colour. See the space. See what I see. Art is everywhere."

Installation began in March, and will continue throughout 2016. People will be able to follow along and learn how they can participate in The 416 Project as Molina installs each piece and maps his progress at The416Project.com and on Instagram @CDNartist.
