'An Instrumental Christmas' concert
On December 10, 2016 evening, Korean Canadian Chamber Concerts presented its 3rd concert of this inaugural season at St, George on Yonge in North York.
Offered as an alternative to the ubiquitous annual Messiah concerts at this time of year, KCCC took on an instrumental celebration.
Mozart's brooding Viola Quintet an ingenious work by the Master, reflected the mood of the year past. Alberto Ginastera's famous Danzas Argentinas for solo piano transcribed by our own percussionist Kwangwon Kim for percussion and piano, exuded energy and hope for the coming new year. The programme closed with the Nutcracker Suite Medley, Tchaikovsky's masterpiece reimagined by orchestrator Na-Young Kim for our band of musicians, specially for this evening. With active participation from our audiences, sing-along (and dance-along) encore pieces of O Holy Night, Let it Snow, and the Flower Waltz followed. The over 80 music appreciating audiences wrapped up the magical escape over hot-chocolate, mulled wine together before returning to reality.
KCCC will return with an exciting Mostly Strings concert in April 2017 - stay tuned!
