
Locale in two cities
Thornhill is a neighborhood in the Greater Toronto Area of Southern Ontario situated on the northern border of the city of Toronto. The village enjoys the unique individuality of being situated in two different cities; the City of Vaughan west of Yonge Street and the City of Markham east of Yonge Street.
Once a municipal village, it is now a community and postal identification. The new Thornhill which has branched out from the old village is assembling of new home subdivisions surrounded by shopping centers, community centers, and highly ranked schools. The village has an excellent mix of indoor and outdoor recreation facilities, golfers will delight in having so many courses to choose from in Thornhill.
The old village of Thornhill is bundled around Yonge Street between Centre and John Streets. This country setting is visible by the east branch of the Don River which meanders downstream through the village and adjacent ravine parkland.
