Tiffin Knit Wits Give Sensory Muffs to Fellow Residents
On Tuesday, October 11th, our knitting group "The Tiffin Knit Wits" gave sensory stimulation muffs to our Memory Care residents. These muffs help seniors who become stressed and may need sensory stimulation. The resident can come and sit with their hands in the muffs where there are various items to be found and touched with bright colors and patterns to look at. We are so excited to give these gifts within our home, before we go ahead and give them to other people in the community. The residents felt that sometimes we overlook the needs of people in our own neighborhoods. “The Tiffin Knit Wits” have previously brought baby hats to local hospitals, knitted "skin to skin" squares for the Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital for the newborns and sent knitted dolls to children in other countries.
