Richmond Hill is a town situated in the southern portion of York Region, Ontario. It is part of the Greater Toronto Area and is bounded by Bloomington Rd. to the north, York Regional Road 7 to the south, Bathurst St. to the west, and Ontario Highway 404 to the east. It is the third most populous municipality in York Region.
It is a prosperous town with a large number of people engaged in areas of business, finance, industry and healthcare. The town is local to the world-renowned David Dunlap Observatory telescope, at one time the second largest telescope in the world, and still the largest in Canada. Built in 1935, the Observatory offers a variety of education and outreach programs, including public viewing nights and star talks on Saturday evenings from May through October.
Year round, the Town hosts numerous events like the Winter Carnival, Santa Claus Parade, Canada Day Celebrations, Heritage Village Day, Concerts In The Park, and others. Richmond Hill is as diverse in its ethnicity as it is in its attractions.
