FLY BEYOND CANCER FASHION SHOW
Photographer Caroline Lacoste and fashion stylist Karen Chaplin, hosted a fashion show at the Great Hall May 29th, to raise awareness of the free cancer survivor services offered by Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation.
4 live performances accompanied the show to designers such as Thomas Henry Made, Narces, Hendrix Roe, Diseiye, Sensuelle & Chic, Fluevog Shoes, King's Cover, Lady Mosquito, Varsity Brown and Neck Couture. 8 Cancer Survivors were part of the runway show, inspiring the crowd with their courage and strength to 'fly beyond' this terrible disease. 2 Guest speakers, Tessa Smith and Annie Parker- both Cancer survivors, instilled emotion in the crowd after hearing of their fight with cancer and how they moved forward in their lives.
An auction accompanied performances by comedians Coko Galore and Daphney Joseph, and musicians such as Lera Salt, Christopher George, Elise Mariah and Brian Unger with percussionist Tyler Lamanna.
The goal was to raise $1000.00 for Wellspring, but with Carepath coming forward as a sponsor for the event, almost $3000.00 was raised.
After the show, designers came forward offering Wellspring their own referrals for volunteers and future support to continue working with cancer survivors and do whatever they can to help. New connections were made with other health care providers as well.
A very emotional day, but worthwhile to spread the news that there are ways to Fly Beyond Cancer.
