First Bachata Festival unites the dance community

The first Ottawa Bachata Festival which took place from January 26-29th, 2017 wss an astounding success.

The 4 day festival kicked off with a pre-Festival Bash on Thursday night, featuring an Amateur Bachata Battle along with a complimentary Bachata Workshop and Social dancing to the beats of a Local DJ.

Attendees had the opportunity to partake in over a dozen workshops, given by local and guest instructors, over three days, which featured various styles of dance such as Zouk, Bachata, Kizomba and Afro.
They also had the opportunity to attend the Rising Stars Celebration on Saturday which featured performances by Ritmo Baile’s Amateur , Ladies and Pro-Am teams as well as performances by out of town guests such as Latin Shop and San Tropez from Montreal.

Ritmo Baile (RB) Dance School is dedicated to teaching Latin, Ballroom, Folklore and other modern styles of dance in the Capital Region. RB is one of the only dance schools in Ottawa that offers such a variety of styles. Our mission is to use dance to promote self‐confidence, self-expression, and positive health and to educate our clients about the rich history and culture that accompanies dance.
