Housing developments began in the 1950s, prior to this, when Highway 400 was first opened, Concord was an agricultural neighborhood, covered mostly by farmlands.
This decade also saw an industrialized park added near Jane Street.
In the 1970s, the industrialization of the northern part of the Greater Toronto Area set up. A residential area, Glen Shields, was constructed in the 1970s and 1980s in the southeast.
1992 was the starting point of Highway 407, which opened in 1997, with three Concord interchanges.
In the early 2000s, development of the Vaughan Mills shopping mall began, being completed in 2004.
