
The Province of Ontario
Ontario is one of the ten provinces of Canada and it is located in the eastern-central region of Canada. Ontario is bordered by the province of Manitoba to the west, Quebec to the east, the Hudson Bay to the north and the USA to the south. The capital of Ontario is the city of Ottawa while the city of Toronto is Ontario’s largest city.
Ontario is a very diverse province and its character changes dramatically as you drive through it from north to south. Northern Ontario is a gorgeous region of Canada that is mostly made up of a series of forests and lakes. It is a sparsely populated area of Ontario and it is often also referred to as “cottage country”. In sharp contrast, Southern Ontario includes a region of Ontario that is called the “Golden Horseshoe” and it is where most of Ontario’s population resides. Southern Ontario is considered to be one of the vital economic centers of Canada and it is a region of Ontario that is bustling with activity.
