PMI Lakeshore Chapter - Special Christmas Celebration Dinner Event!
PMI Lakeshore Chapter organized a special Christmas Dinner Presentation & Celebration Event On Friday, December 9, 2016 at Holiday Inn Hotel Oakville. The presentation displayed how can we reach beyond project management in the workplace and use our skills to enrich the lives of families in our own communities? In the spirit of "Giving Back", Ryan Shkopiak discussed how he has applied his skills as a basketball house league convenor in his home town of Grimsby. All projects go through their beginning to end lifecycle and a basketball house league program season is no different. Ryan quite literally handed PMPs the ball when he asked for examples of tasks a project manager will perform during each of the 5 Process Group phases: Initiation, Planning, Execution, Monitoring & Control and Closeout, and then he provided illustrated examples of tasks and functions he performed in his volunteer role. The end result provided positive impacts to many lives and families in his community, as well as had an added benefit for project managers. On the opposite side of the CCR requirements talent triangle, is a whole other way for PMPs to earn PDUs - by volunteering services in not-for-profit organizations. Nader Sadek PMI Marketing & PR Manager highlighted that Ryan showed how by using our everyday work life project management skills, we can reach beyond ourselves and earn a sack full of PDUs in the process!
