100 YEARS AFTER THE REVOLUTION: RUSSIA 2017

Northumberland Learning Connection presents a series of five Thursday evening talks and five Friday morning discussions, 100 YEARS AFTER THE REVOLUTION: RUSSIA 2017, from October 26 to November 24, 2017.

Speakers will come from the US and across Canada, including Dick Pound, Chancellor of McGill University, former President of the World Anti-Doping Agency, who will speak on November 2 on When Sport Defines a Nation: Russian Identity, the Olympics and the Doping Scandal.

Thursday evening talks are at 7.30 pm at the Columbus Community Centre, 232 Spencer Street East, Cobourg, and Friday morning discussions are at 9.00 am at the Port Hope Public Library.

The series includes three special events: a Sunday afternoon panel, Stories of Life in Russia, moderated by Karin Wells; a trip to Roy Thompson Hall for a concert by the Mariinsky Orchestra of St. Petersburg, under Valery Gergiev, and an illustrated talk by James Raffan, Across the Russian Arctic.
