Coldest Night of the Year - Port Hope
The third annual Coldest Night of the Year walk held on Feb 25, 2017 in Port Hope was a huge success. Approximately 200 walkers put on their "coldest night" toques and walked 2 or 5 kil. in support of the hungry, hurting and homeless in our community. Judy Hone, Event Co-Director was overwhelmed by the generosity of our community. 36 teams fundraised almost $44,000 by the walk start time! Money raised goes to Green Wood Coalition, a local grass root charitable organization helping people navigate the barriers to income, housing and health care. This family friendly event brought together people from across our geographical area for a common cause "neighbours helping neighbours". A simple but delicious chili dinner was enjoyed afterwards thanks to generous donations by local restaurants. Mark your calendars for next year and join us in The Coldest Night of the Year Feb 24, 2018!
