PEO York Chapter, 2016 AMD Mathletics Competition

Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) York Chapter held their annual
"Mathletics" competition on October 22,2016 in Newmarket.  AMD is the title sponsor for the event. 
Mathletics is a competition designed to create a passion in the
application of mathematics in solving day-to-day scientific and
engineering problems. Students are challenged to be active and creative
in the use of mathematics. Different facets of mathematics were
introduced and tested. An electronics audience response system (clicker)
was used for participant to answer a series of questions in both numeric
and multiple choices format.
Questions were projected on a screen and the participants responded using the remote/clickers. Results and answers were displayed on a large screen. There were two competitions held.
45 students (grades 5&6)across the York Region took part in
the juniors round, and 53 students (grades 7&8)from York Region took part
in the senior round. 
Top 3 students in each competition were rewarded with educational prizes.
