Pape Village was formerly known as Todmorden and it was named by one of the first settlers to the area, John Eastwood. The landscape of Pape Village reminded John Eastwood of Todmorden, England and hence, he named it so. Some people still refer to Pape Village by this name however, it mainly fell out of use in the early 1940s.
Pape Village became a Business Improvement Area (BIA) in 1986 and this has helped greatly to promote local businesses in the area as well as to make Pape Village a more attractive neighbourhood for both residents and visitors.
