
Milton Show Choir awarded Best New Show Choir!
Milton Show Choir recently made their Toronto debut at Show Choir Canada’s 2016 Nationals.
Their intermediate/junior show choir, Flare, opened the event with a beautifully staged crowd-pleasing set list, singing and dancing to A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes, Someday My Prince Will Come, Dear Future Husband, Cheerleader and Marry You.
Milton Show Choir’s high school/intermediate show choir, Gleam, impressed the panel of international judges with their renditions of Unhappy/Paparazzi, Material Girl, Money, When I Grow Up, Fame, Fix You and The Middle/Fight Song. They were awarded First Place Arts/Community, Best Choreography, as well as Best New Show Choir. Prizing was awarded by Roland Canada and Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts.
Milton Show Choir offers multiple youth choirs for students in grades two through high school. Artistic Co-Directors are Melanie Silva and Bob Hall, both full time teachers in the Halton region.
Milton Show Choir has had a busy year with appearances at the Hawthorne Café Tree Lighting Celebration, Milton Santa Claus Parade, Royal Botanical Gardens Holiday Traditions, Show Choir Canada Nationals, Canada’s Wonderland, Milton Music Festival, local community events and were invited guests at the Milton Song Spinners spring concert, Generations in Harmony.
Guest artists and master classes are included in the program. This year Juno-nominee Glenn Marias conducted a master class, mentoring members through an original composition followed by a recording.
A Calgary tour for the senior group is planned for next year in celebration of the organizations fifth year of operation.
The choir’s annual Community Outreach Initiative lends support to organizations such as Big Brothers, Big Sisters and ROCK (Reach Out Centre for Kids).
