At the end of World War II, the West End experienced another population surge as Toronto opened its doors to immigration and refugees from war-torn Europe. Many Chinese immigrants also immigrated to this area at this time and later, people from all over the World. Many of these new immigrants settled in the West End and it was these new immigrants that helped to shape the West End as we know it today. Each neighbourhood slowly developed its own unique character and little pockets of culture exploded in the West End. For example, many Polish immigrants moved to Roncesvalles Village while other Eastern Europeans settled in Bloor West Village.

Today, the West End is a very vibrant district of the City of Toronto. Although it has seen both ups and downs, this part of the City of Toronto has experienced a lot of gentrification over the last three decades and it is now one of the hippest and most sought-after areas in which to live.
