Dundas Valley Orchestra "A Jewel in the Valley" Concert
On Sunday Afternoon January 27, 2019 the Dundas Valley Orchestra gave a concert at St. Paul's United Church in Dundas Ontario. We are celebrating our 40th year as an orchestra and the theme was "Jewel in the Valley". We played music that highlighted all sections of the orchestra with each section of the orchestra playing individually. Our music director Laura Thomas included music from past seasons as well as a piece she composed for percussion which was premiered at the concert.
Our strings played Jenkins "Palladio", Smith "Isle of Calypso" with Azriel Ashmore on English Horn as well as Diemer "Symphonie Antique"; our brass played Gabrieli "Sonata Pian e Forte" and "Canzon Septimi Toni" with guest conductor Larry Allen; our Woodwinds and Horns Played Richard Strauss "Serenade"; and our percussion played Laura Thomas "Synchroma".
In addition we had our HAALSA winner Hannah Thompson on Clarinet perform Mozart Clarinet Concerto in A Major, Adagio with the orchestra. The Orchestra also played Hummel "Concertante" and Mozart "Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail".
We would like to thank our audience for coming to our concert on such a cold, wintery, blustery day.
