
Dundas Valley Orchestra "Looking back and looking forward" Concert
On Sunday May 26, 2019 the Dundas Valley Orchestra held their final concert of their 40th anniversary year at St. Paul's United church in Dundas, Ontario. Our guest artist Corey Gemmell played Prokofiev's Violin Concerto No. 1, op. 19 in D Major with the orchestra.
The winner of the DVO Composer Competition this year was Yoshiaki Okita and the DVO played his composition called Promenade.He was in the audience and accepted his award from Lynne Calnek, Past President of the Board of Directors of the DVO.
The concert opened with DVO audience choice of Merry Wives of Windsor by Otto Nicholai. To end the intermission and start the second half of the concert the DVO brass section played a version of Happy Birthday to the orchestra.
The concert ended with Pictures at an Exhibition by Modest Mussorgsky orch. by C. Simpson with image presentation for Pictures of an Exhibition by Dr. Keri Cronin.
At the reception following the concert there was a cake to celebrate our 40th Anniversary as an orchestra.
