
CARDINALS SIGN IMPORT PLAYER JONATHAN DZIOMBA
Hamilton Cardinals’ general manager Dean Dicenzo announced today that the organization has signed import utility player Jonathan Dziomba for the 2017 Intercounty Baseball League season.
Dziomba, a 29-year-old native of Buffalo, New York, joins the Cardinals with eight years of profession independent baseball experience which includes time in the American Association, United League, North American League, Can-Am Association and Frontier League. During the 2016 baseball season Dziomba split time with the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs and New Britain Bees of the Atlantic League.
Over his eight season of pro baseball, Dziomba has played in 377 games and has 389 hits for a .282 batting average. Of his hits, 99 of them went for extra bases.
In 2013, he was the United League batting champion and was named to the United League’s All-League team. That same year he was named as one of the Top 20 Baseball America Independent Prospects in the United States.
Prior to turning pro Dziomba played NCAA baseball at Gannon University and Mercyhurst University.
With this Saturday’s game at Guelph being postponed, Hamilton will now open the 99th Intercounty Baseball League season on Friday May 19th when they travel to London to face the Majors at Labatt Park starting at 7:35 PM. Two days later the Cardinals will host the Burlington Herd at Bernie Arbour Stadium to open the home portion of the 2017 IBL schedule. Prior to the game there will be opening day ceremonies starting at 1:55 PM. The first pitch on Sunday May 21st will go at approximately 2:10 PM.
