CARDINALS DEAL FOR GREG MARCO
Hamilton Cardinals’ general manager Dean Dicenzo announced today that the team has made a deal with the Burlington Herd for Greg Marco.
Marco, a five-foot-ten, 22-year-old Waterdown native, played 24 games for Burlington during the 2016 IBL season. A recent graduate of Northwestern Oklahoma State University spent the 2017 university season as a student coach. The previous two season with the university Marco had a combined batting average of .208 with 6 RBIs while appearing 23 games. He also spent the 2014 season with the Jamestown Community College Jayhawks alongside current Cardinal David Vanderby.
Although he had a tough season at the plate with the Bandits, now the Herd, Marco had a strong year in the field while playing multiple positions when required to and provides speed off the bench when he is not in a starting role. Marco is also a proven leader as he helped guide the Burlington Bulls junior team to multiple successful seasons prior to his IBL debut last year.
Hamilton will open the 99th Intercounty Baseball League season on Friday May 19th when they travel to London to face the Majors at Labatt Park starting at 7:35 PM. Two days later the Cardinals will host the Burlington Herd at Bernie Arbour Stadium to open the home portion of the 2017 IBL schedule. Prior to the game there will be opening day ceremonies starting at 1:55 PM. The first pitch on Sunday May 21st will go at approximately 2:10 PM.
