Opened in 1979, the original library was located a little further west before its relocation a year later to the iconic Postal Station G. building constructed in 1913.
Named a historically significant site by the city of Toronto, the neo-classical sandstone building was designed by the E. J. Lennox the architect behind Casa Loma, King Edward Hotel, and Old City Hall.
Used as a community space, the upper floor of the library is noted as a common meeting space for members of the Riverdale community.
