Event Recap - Sawdust City Oktoberfest
Sawdust City Brewing kicked off Muskoka’s Largest Oktoberfest for its second year in a row at the Gravenhurst Curling Club on September 30th and October 1st.
This two-session event held host to over 500 beer-drinkin’, pretzel-eatin’, lederhosen wearing attendees. There was no holding back as the Sawdust City Oktoberfest MC, Monika Mavec, thrilled the crowd with beer holding competitions, plunger poking, beer chugging, and one heck of a yodel! All this while the traditional oom-pah band, the Matt Lebar Ensemble, had you feeling like you were in Munich without ever leaving Muskoka! Sawdust City also released five new beers that weekend including its Sägemehl Stadt, a traditional German festbier.
Sawdust City then turned up the funk half way through both nights by bringing out Turbo Street Funk, a funk band from Toronto. They played funky covers of Top 40 songs and had everyone out of their seats and on the large dance floor for true gemütlichkeit! Ending the sold-out Saturday night with an encore, Turbo Street Funk left the crowd wanting more.
Look out for Muskoka’s Largest Oktoberfest next year! Tickets go on sale in August 2017.
