Etobicoke
Etobicoke is the western most district of the City of Toronto and its stretches westward from the Humber River until it meets with the border of Mississauga. It runs from the shores of Lake Ontario all the way up to Steeles Avenue West.
Etobicoke is mainly residential. Formerly a suburb of Toronto, its neighbourhoods range from those that are made up of mostly affluent families living in large houses to communities living in low income high rises. Some of Etobicoke’s more know neighbourhoods include those of Rexdale, Mimico, The Kingsway, Humber Valley Village and Thorncrest Village.
Etobicoke has many lovely public parks, golf courses, restaurants, cafes and shopping centers. James Gardens, Colonel Samuel Smith Park and Humber Bay Park are all popular parks full of flowers, walkways and streams. Etobicoke is also home to both Humber College and the University of Guelph-Humber. It is also where the Woodbine Race Track and Slots is located as well as both the Woodbine Centre and Sherway Gardens Shopping Centre.
