For about 40 years, a male-only group has been meeting on Wednesday afternoon’s in Leaside. The quality of play is surpassed by the camaraderie, thus expertise is not as highly rated as one’s sense of humour. Why do we play Bridge? What do we find appealing about Bridge? It is not for the pleasure of memorizing a bidding system or adhering to rules. The games appeal lies in problem solving. During a game, you face dozens of decisions, many of which require logical reasoning. This group is unique and a tad eccentric, maybe because it is an all-male group. We play four hands, then winners move to the next table. Usually, we play about 16 hands from 1:00 to 3:30 PM. The cost is $3.00 per afternoon. Money is used to buy items for our social afterwards, and some of our collected funds go to the church. From 3:30 to 4:00 PM, we have tea and cookies together. Why? Because it's fun!
