East Gwillimbury is a town on the East Holland River in the Regional Municipality of York. The main headers are the villages of Holland Landing, Queensville, Sharon, and Mount Albert. The Civic Centre is located on Leslie Street in Sharon. The northernmost networking of Highway 404 is at the North edge of East Gwillimbury, just south of Ravenshoe Road. The suburbs of Holt and Brown Hill are also within town limits. Throughout the Town, residents can enjoy a range of recreational areas including tot lots, neighborhood and community parklands as well as municipal open spaces and Lake Simcoe Region Conservation areas. Built and supported largely by volunteers, the Millennium Garden design is a celebration of nature that promotes the use of green space. The garden is situated at the corner of the Mount Albert Road and King Street in the community of Mount Albert. The Millennium Garden officially opened on July 14, 2001 as a figurative gateway to the new millennium. The garden was organized by a group of interested citizens to herald the new era and the Town of East Gwillimbury's 150th anniversary. Throughout the year, there are many events that include fairs, parades, artist studio tours and equestrian shows.
