Boys and Girls Club of Durham - Cowboy Chic Media Launch
The Boys and Girls Club of Durham (BGCD) held a media launch on Friday, Feb. 24 providing a preview of their 5th annual Cowboy Chic fundraising event. Hosted by The Corral in Oshawa, BGCD welcomed special guests such as MPP Lorne Coe and Mayor John Henry. Mayor Henry brought greetings from the city and reflected on his time teaching scuba at the Boys and Girls Club.
Bank Manager Steve Slack from the presenting sponsor, TD talked about the impact volunteering in the club’s basketball program had on him and why he has stayed connected to the club for 12 years. Several other sponsors joined the event such as Staff Sergeant Colin Shaw from the Durham Regional Police Services Board, Sandra Deering from the Cooperators and Steve Macaulay from KX96. KX96’s Pete Walker MC for the Cowboy Chic introduced Ajax-native country singer, Kris Barclay, who gave a sampling of the music he will be performing at the event on March 24, 2017 at 7 p.m. at the LVIV Hall in Oshawa.
The evening promises to be a fun night filled with country-themed activities such as line dancing, a mechanical bull, the Jewellery House featuring a diamond necklace and earrings donated by Jewellery by Sanders and a chance to win the famous Chariot of Cheer; a wheel barrow of alcoholic spirits. All proceeds go towards supporting programs for children and youth at the Boys and Girls Club of Durham.
