Dundas Valley Orchestra

Dundas Valley Orchestra in performance January 29, 2017

On Sunday January 29, 2017 the Dundas Valley Orchestra presented "Movie Classics" in a concert at St. Paul's United Church Dundas, Ontario. Music Director Laura Thomas led the orchestra in a variety of music that has been played in films.
Music included Richard Strauss "Also sprach Zarathustra" from 2001:Space Odyssey; Johann Strauss Jr. "Blue Danube Waltz": Gabriel's Oboe from the film "The Mission" with principal Oboist Homer Seywerd as Soloist: The Great Escape March from The Great Escape; "Dance with Wolves"; Canzone for Cello and Orchestra by Max Bruch with HAALSA Young Musician award winner Phillip Darley as Solo Cellist.
The DVO also played "007:Through the Years arranged by S. Bulla which was a medley including music from Dr. No, Goldfinger, Live and Let Die, The Spy who Loved me and Skyfall.
The second half of the program was Schubert's Unfinished Symphony No. 8 D. 759, B Minor.
