The Distillery District
The Distillery District is the southeastern most neighbourhood of downtown Toronto and it borders on the East End. It is located east of the St. Lawrence neighbourhood and west of Riverdale.
Over the past decade, the Distillery District has truly blossomed. It is an area rich in Victorian architecture and it is one of Toronto’s most desirable areas in which to visit, work and live. Cut out of the restored, historic Gooderham and Worts Distillery, it is a very lively pedestrian-only area replete with lovely restaurants, galleries, shops, cafes, boutiques and theaters. The Distillery District is a superb area for a weekend stroll and it is a must-see for all culture, history, art and entertainment lovers.
The Distillery District has also been used extensively by the film industry. Its gorgeous streets have been used as a backdrop in hundreds of Hollywood movies including such famous films as X-men, Chicago and The Recruit.
