The County of Frontenac is located in the eastern portion of Southern Ontario. The city of Kingston is in the Frontenac census division, but is separated from the County of Frontenac.
The County of Frontenac is characterized by very few urban centres, amounting to small total population of less than 30,000 people in the county. Many of the larger communities in the County of Frontenac are located a short distance outside of Kingston, allowing residents of these smaller communities to be closer to the many amenities of Kingston that are unavailable in these smaller towns, such as hospitals and schools.
Despite its small population, the County of Frontenac offers an exceptional quality of life while providing businesses with strategic access to major markets in both Canada and the United States. Residents enjoy the advantages of a rural lifestyle, living, working and travelling in one of the most naturally beautiful parts of our province, yet benefit from the region’s proximity to a number of major urban centres.
