The town of Collingwood

Collingwood’s location makes it an ideal destination for both winter and summer activities. Connected through a network of trails that include the Georgian Trail and parts of the Bruce Trail, biking, hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing are just some of the activities that are popular year round.

Located just northwest of Collingwood is Blue Mountain ski resort. Situated along a section of the Niagara Escarpment it is the third busiest ski resort in Canada after Whistler in British Columbia and Mont Tremblant in Quebec. Featuring 42 runs, 16 chair lifts and 3 freestyle terrains it is the largest alpine ski resort in Ontario.

Established in 1967, Craigleith Provincial Park is a small provincial park between Collingwood and Thornbury created to preserve the historic oil shale beach. Located on the shores of the Georgian Bay, the park is open during the months of May to October and is popular with campers. The campsites are all within walking distance of the beach where fossils as old as 455 million years old can be found embedded in the rocks.
