Islington-City Centre West is a neighbourhood and former postal village in Toronto, Ontario.
Islington is bordered on the north by Rathburn Road, on the east by Islington Avenue and Mimico Creek, on the south by Bloor St. W., and on the west by Mimico Creek and the hydro-electric powerline corridor.
Islington-City Centre West appreciates an excellent position – with closeness to Hwy. 427 and the QEW, as well as Kipling station where the GO Train connects with the TTC’s Bloor subway line.
The southern part of the area is occupyed by light industry and big box stores, the residential streets in the northern part of the borough are quiet, with large grown trees and lovely lots.
Islington has a number of building styles ranging in distinction to of an earlier time, single family dwellings to apartment and condominium towers. Islington is quickly becoming one of West Toronto's more affluent residential areas.
Real estate in Islington-City Centre West has the grandeur as the best quality murals in the city. Some of the themes include: a tribute to Islington’s past volunteer fire brigade, tributes to former local farmers and businesses, and a mural called “Briarly – Gone but not forgotten” which features one of the first homes in the village, that regrettably is no longer standing.
