Urban and Rural Attractions
Peterborough is a city on the Otonabee River in Central Ontario, a region that is a very popular tourist destination for cottagers and outdoor recreation enthusiasts. With almost 80,000 people, it is a large city that contains almost all amenities a person could want.
It is geographically located within Peterborough County, although the city’s administration is separate from that of the county. The rest of Peterborough County is sparsely populated, but is home to many fantastic lakes, forests, and other wildlife attractions.
Although many of the region’s most popular attractions are outdoors, Peterborough is also home to several cultural attractions. These include the Art Gallery of Peterborough, founded in 1974; the Peterborough Symphony Orchestra, incorporated in 1967; and the Peterborough Singers Choir, just to name a few.
The Peterborough Museum and Archives and the Peterborough Skateboard Park are two other popular attractions in the city.
With many attractions in both the urban and surrounding rural area of Peterborough there is definitely something for everyone in this bustling and vibrant city.
