Nestled in the Valley

One of two of Toronto’s oldest private homes, known together as Elm Bank

Thistletown is a neighbourhood in Toronto, Ontario. It is bordered by the Humber River: the West Branch to the south, insignificantly over the river to the east, and to the William Osler Health Centre - Etobicoke General Hospital just raised in the north of the river. The western line is Kipling Avenue, though the area of the neighbourhood west of Islington is at times considered a separate part named Beaumonde Heights.
Thistletown is a part of the Rexdale community in the northern part of Etobicoke too.
Presently the corners of Albion and Islington in Thistletown has a large occupancy of East Indian stores and services. They are joined by a mixture of Caribbean/West Indian, Indian, Sri Lankan, and Pakistani stores.
Situated in the estate of the Group of Seven member Franklin Carmichael one of the landmarks in the neighbourhood is the Franklin Carmichael Art Centre at 34 Riverdale Drive. Off the main roads, much evidence of the village’s history is present. One of Toronto’s oldest homes is located on Jason Drive ,built as early as 1802.
