Organic, Volunteer Run Community Garden
Scarborough Village has its very own community garden. It was established with Fiskars' Project Orange Thumb in 2009, and since then has been completely volunteer run with all the food organically grown. The beautiful veggies, herbs, and berries gets shared among volunteers and donated to the local Red Cross food bank.
Becoming a volunteer or getting involved with the garden is incredibly easy. Come down during our open gardening times, which is on Tuesdays to Saturdays 10 AM to 1 PM, and Mondays 6 to 8 PM, and get started. No personal tools are necessary, we have a shed full of them, and we'll help you start gardening. It's as quick as that. As an added perk, on Saturdays and Mondays, the volunteers get to harvest and take home some very healthy goodies.
Check out our website for a bit more information.
And come on down to help us create a strong, sustainable environment. Or relax; enjoy the lovely garden and its frolicking butterflies.
Everyone's welcome!
