Parenteen Communication Workshop - Having trouble connecting with your teens?
Communicating Through Pictures (CTP) is a unique augmentative/alternative communication system that has been specifically designed to help parents understand the thinking process of teens.
CTP begins by showing parents how effective visual communication (photographs, art, magazine or newspaper clippings, etc) can be with teenagers and how seeing your child's behaviour in picture form can help eliminate the frustration and arguments that can come from miscommunication and/or misinterpretations.
The workshop delves into teen behaviours, body language and gestures, breaking each down into identifiable fragments to help parents better understand the hidden messages they convey.
From there we will show you how to work with the behaviours and how to effectively replace words with pictures to begin breaking down the barriers between parent and child that are ultimately blocking free flowing verbal communication.
Once you have established a solid understanding for visually communicating with your child, we will then reintroduce verbal communication by matching your child's vocabulary to the pictures you've been using. Bringing the two forms together will create a strong and lasting foundation for open communication and ultimately a positive relationship.
Only when you can see what your child is trying to say can you fully hear them.
