Northumberland County is located on the north shore of Lake Ontario. Its largest communities are Cobourg, Port Hope, and Brighton, along with many smaller communities.
Northumberland County has many preserved historical buildings that have become popular tourist attractions. Cobourg’s municipal building, Victoria Hall, was opened by the Prince of Wales in 1860, and is one of the top architectural tourist attractions in Northumberland County. Port Hope’s town hall is also a very popular architectural landmark in the county, as is the town’s main street, Walton Street.
Northumberland County is also home to Presqu’ile Provincial Park, located just outside Brighton.
With dozens of unique shops on the towns’ main streets, as well as several immaculately preserved architectural landmarks and a provincial park, Northumberland County definitely has something for everyone.
