"Beautiful Village"

Belleville is a city located at the mouth of the Moira River on the Bay of Quinte in Central Ontario, along the Quebec City-Windsor Corridor. It is the seat of Hastings County, but politically independent of it, and is the centre of the Bay of Quinte Region. Its name can be translated to “beautiful village.”
Visitors can go fishing in the Bay of Quinte for several types of fish, such walleye, bass, pike, musky, and perch. In winter, the Bay transforms into an ice fishing destination too.
Broad, sheltered waters make the Bay of Quinte one of Canada’s top sailing destinations and a prime location for power boating, kayaking and windsurfing. Residents and visitors can also enjoy rowing and dragon boating.
There are also many other popular activities such as golfing, hiking, exploring, shopping, swimming. Belleville maintains over 500 acres of parkland at 55 locations throughout the community. Children will enjoy playing at Zwick's Park along the Bayshore Trail, or at the Lady Nicole Pirate Ship Park. More the 26 kilometres of hiking and cycling trails can be found along the Bay of Quinte and Moira River, and are accessible year-round.
In addition to the many recreational attractions, Belleville has several cultural attractions too. The Hastings Heritage Centre and Glanmore National Historical Site are two of Belleville’s museums, along with several galleries such as the Waterfront Fine Art Gallery.
