An Up and Coming Neighbourhood

Little Portugal is a primarily residential area in the west end of Toronto where there are many Portuguese businesses along the sections of College Street and Dundas Street West that run through this neighbourhood. Little Portugal roughly stretches from College Street to the north to the CNR/CPR railway tracks to the south and from Lansdowne Avenue to the west to Ossington Avenue to the east.

Little Portugal is a neighbourhood that has undergone a lot of gentrification in the past decade. There are many great Portuguese restaurants here as well as several Portuguese bars, community centers and bakeries. Many young people have moved to Little Portugal in the past decade and as a result, a lot of new galleries, vintage stores and bars have also opened up in this area. Today, Little Portugal has become a very trendy area of Toronto with a mix of Portuguese, Brazilian and Asian residents.
