Rural Service Centre
Bolton is the most occupied community in the town of Caledon, located approximately 50 km northwest of Toronto in Ontario's Peel Region.
In territorial documents, it is referred to as a 'Rural Service Centre'. The downtown and area that historically defined the village is in a valley, through which flows the Humber River. The area is popular among visitors looking to get out of the city and enjoy some peace and quiet in the country. The conservation lands' forests dominate a large part of the northwest, the north, the east including along the Humber valley. These conservation lands have organized several recreational areas; including parts of the Humber Valley Heritage Trail. Farmland and the protected Oak Ridges Moraine overlord the landscape surrounding the village. A number of community parks are located everywhere in the town including the Dicks Dam Park, which is a pleasant spot for a picnic, and R.J.A Potts Memorial Park which features squash, bocce and basketball courts.
