To celebrate the 200th anniversary of the naming of Belleville, the 150th anniversary of Confederation and the 60th anniversary of the Hastings County Historical Society, the Society invites you to the unveiling of the second of five bronze historical plaques to be dedicated in downtown Belleville over the summer months. The second plaque commemorates Margaret Simpson's Tavern at the corner of Dundas and Front Streets. First built in 1797 and replaced in 1799, Simpson's Tavern was the hub of political, military and social activity in Myers Creek as Belleville was then known. Come joint us to celebrate this piece of downtown Belleville history.
