A Colourful Community

Church Wellesley Village is a very colourful neighbourhood within the central core of downtown Toronto. It is bordered to the west by Yonge Street, to the east by Jarvis Street, to the north by Bloor Street and to the south by Gerrard Street. The main commercial center of the Church Wellesley Village runs down Church Street from Wellesley Street to Alexander Street.

Church Wellesley Village is full of many great cafes, bars, restaurants and small shops. It is an area of Toronto that attracts people of all ethnicities, economic backgrounds and sexual identities. Often also known as the Gay Village, the Church Wellesley Village is perhaps most famous for its annual Pride Week festival. Hundreds of thousands of Torontonians and tourists flock to this area every summer for this wonderful weeklong celebration of queer culture. The Pride Parade, the Dyke Walk, concerts and the community fair are all highlights of this week.

The Church Wellesley Village also hosts several other festivals every year including the Halloweek, The Church Street Village Fair and Cavalcade of Lights. This community hosted World Pride in 2014.
